Counselling Methods

My therapeutic work is informed by neuroscientific, trauma-informed, emotion-focused therapy (EFT), parts work/internal family systems (IFS), attachment and somatic orientations. All of the therapy I do is evidence-based, non-pathologizing and rooted in facilitating the discovery and growth of personal empowerment through neuroplasticity.

In therapy together, we will get to know the different parts of self that have been impacted by what we did or didn’t receive in your developing childhood; understand with compassion how these parts have adapted in your life and how they work hard to protect you in the present, albeit maladaptively; and empower yourself to heal those parts and remove the emotional blocks from your most true Self.

When we are able to be deeply intimate, aware of and compassionate with ourselves, it changes our relationships with our partners, family members, friends and coworkers. We are able to maintain deeper connection; be authentic and advocate for ourselves and our needs in relationship; we understand others and communicate effectively; and we learn how to be discerning in our relationships to create and maintain boundaries that keep us safe and fulfilled. This work is relational, experiential, educational and process-oriented, rooted in neuroscience and in safety.
