Serving first responders & their Families

I have been trained as an Occupationally Aware therapist for First Responders by the BC Professional Fire Fighter’s Association. I am informed about the unique culture, strengths and challenges of being a First Responder and can offer services that help keep the mind sharp, strong and healthy to support oneself and their crew.

There are occupational stressors embedded in the nature of First Responder work that can result in symptoms associated with trauma responses and psychological injuries. We understand these experiences to be very normal reactions to the very abnormal and unique demands of First Responder work.

But what most Public Safety Personnel are talking about in therapy are like anyone else: their relationships, vitality and staying connected to themselves, and work-family-life balance. Firefighters, particularly, are recorded as having some of the highest job satisfaction in North America. My clients often share that they love their work so much they start to lose touch with any joy or satisfaction in their regular life outside of it. We are often working to cultivate meaningful and deeply felt life outside of work as much as they feel alive at work.

It is my priority to help First Responders develop their personal resilience so they can stay on the job, be present with their families and relationships, be a healthy and dependable partner or crew member, and enjoy a long and successful career.

Allow me to support you as you support the community.
